About

A little bit about me.

I'm *not* a professional photographer. I'm an IT Consultant by day, and a father to two young girls. Photography is just a hobby for me, but it's a hobby that I'm passionate about.

You can see some of my work at http://www.paulmasonimages.com/ which, if it shows nothing else, demonstrates the danger of letting someone design their own webpage ;)

As a self confessed geek, part of the attraction to photography is the gear. I happened to settle on the Nikon dSLR system, because for me it was most comfortable to use at the time.

I'm currently using a Nikon D300s dSLR

Lenses:
- Nikon 50mm ƒ/1.8 - Fast prime lens, great for use in low light or for portraits
- Nikon 35mm ƒ/1.8 AF-S - Fast prime lens, great for use in low light or for portraits
- Sigma 10-20mm ƒ/4-5.6 EX DG HSM - extreme wide angle lens, great for landscape work or quirky, distorted portraits
- Sigma 28-70mm ƒ/2.8 EX DG - my every day lens, useful for landscapes but best suited to portraits
- Sigma 70-200mm ƒ/2.8 EX DG HSM Macro - fast telephoto lens, great for wildlife, tight portraits or detailed work
- Lensbaby Muse - approximately a 50mm field of view, but on a wacky, bendy mount to give really distinctive out of focus areas. A specialist lens used only for effect (but the effect is great when done correctly)
- Tamron 18-200mm ƒ/3.5-6.5 AF IF Macro - my 'family lens', for when I don't want to carry all of the heavy gear with me.

Flash:
- Nikon SB900
- Nikon SB600
- Jessops 360 AFDN (x3)

Tripod:
- Giottos MTL9351, MH5001 head

Misc:
- Formatt 10stop ND
- Remote release
- Various flash modifiers (Umbrellas, softboxes, ring light)
- Macro reversing ring & extension tube
- SC-28 TTL cable
- Kood square filter system (ND Grad, ND)
