Resources

Despite my good intentions, I'm never going to give *all* the information I want. Instead, here is a summary of other great free resources that you'll find useful for specific subjects.

Learning

Strobist - easily the best online source of information about off-camera lighting. This is a more advanced subject, but it's so powerful and it's presented very well. I highly recommend you take a look - and if you want to start at the beginning, head for Lighting 101

Nikon CLS Practical Guide - if you thought Strobist was advanced, then this is probably not for you. Specifically aimed at the Nikon CLS (Creative Lighting System), this is an excellent way to understand some of the behaviour of your flashes - what can seem unintuitive becomes clear when reading this blog.

Software

I use, almost exclusively, Free OpenSource Software.

I run Ubuntu on my desktop PC, and LinuxMint on my laptop.

For image manipulation, I use GIMP, and for day to day processing and raw conversion, I use Darktable. I will probably make a specific blog entry (or entries) for GIMP and Darktable, as they are such great pieces of software.
